Patella alta and patella baja are known as poor prognostic indicators in total knee arthroplasty and patellofemoral symptoms have been shown to be responsible for a large percentage of revisions of total knee arthroplasties [1,2]. Patella baja is much more commonly encountered following total knee arthroplasty and can lead to decreased range of motion, extensor lag, decreased lever arm, anterior pain and impingement, and patellar tendon rupture [3].
