摘要

Wylde et al (Wylde V, Blom A, Whitehouse SL, Taylor AH, Pattison GT, Bannister GC. Patient reported outcomes after total hip and knee arthroplasty-comparison of midterm results. J Arthroplasty March 27, 2008. in press) have recently reported findings from an audit/cross-sectional survey in which they make direct comparisons of responses to the Oxford hip and knee scores sent to patients who had received a unilateral hip or knee arthroplasty (respectively) between 5 and 8 years previously. They conclude from their findings that patients who receive total knee arthroplasty experience a significantly poorer functional outcome than patients who have total hip arthroplasty.
