Isolation and identification of genital Mycoplasma/Acholeplasma species from sheep and goats with clinical conditions.

Cervico-vaginal swabs were collected from sheep and goats with a history of repeat breeding or cervicitis, vaginitis, pyometra and abortion. Of 97 samples examined bacteriologically, 6 (6.1%) contained mycoplasmas and 10 (10.1%) acholeplasmas. Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides, M. arginini, M. capricolum and Acholeplasma laidlawii were identified.
