摘要

The present study was conducted on placenta of six pregnant buffaloes ranging from 60 to 243 days of gestation. Conical shaped villous tree originated from the chorionic plate separately. The branching pattern of the villi changed from acute to rightangle with firm foeto-maternal interdigitation with advancing gestation. At 17 cm CVRL (105 days) buffalo placentome showed crypt opening as round to ovoid structure on the caruncular surface and the corresponding villi displayed a round tip. The basal third of most stem villi possessed short bulbous, lateral branches at 31 cm CVRL (143 days).
