Three (Post-secondary Agricultural Education and Training) Challenges and the Concept of 'Workforce Education Systems'

The Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) of the Africa Union's New Partnership for Africa's Development (AUINEPAD), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), in collaboration with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, held in January 2008, a conference on the subject of 'Convergence between Social Service Provision and Productivity Enhancing Investments in Development Strategies' with a view to improving the complementaries between investments in social sciences andthose aimed directly at raising agricultural productivity. The present paper is intended as part of a seminar series in this regard to be held at IFPRI, 9 October 2007, and serves as the basis for a paper to be presented at the CAADPIIFPRI conference inJanuary 2008 in Durban, South Africa.
