摘要

There are plenty of PhDs in automotive engineering departments, but not many of those were awarded in medicine. Renault Group's director of road safety policy, Jean-Yves Le Coz, started out as a hospital physician with a specialism in functional rehabilitation, but his career path took an unexpected turn when in 1986 he met fellow doctor, Claude Tarriere. At that time, Tarriere was director of the Renault/PSA co-owned Accidentology, Biomechanics, and Human Behavior Studies Laboratory (LAB). "After 10 years in hospitals, I'd begun to think about road safely because my patients included a lot of people.
