摘要

Wars, famines, job losses and house repossessions are all part of the increasing numbers of general stressors evident in modern society. Individuals are becoming more stressed for a host of reasons, from job losses in the current economic climate to the increasingly elderly population resulting in more people caring for elderly parents. In the same way as some metals, humans can break down when subjected to excesses of stress. Too much pressure when applied to any individual must have an impact. The major difference between stress in inanimate objects and stress in people is that stress impacts on people in multiple ways. If at some point the impact of stress on people becomes immense, they will eventually become largely dysfunctional and personally traumatised.
