Food borne diseases are the result of unintentional abuse of foods in the kitchens. People in general, do not know about the foods - where to keep, store, how to use and what is food perishability. In the recent past, the food safety has been givena top priority in the west. The consumers require safe, high quality, vigorously inspected food but even then the instances of food borne diseases remain a public health problem in those countries. In India and adjoining countries, the food borne diseases are a very common problem which leads to diarrhea, stomach ache, typhoid and cholera etc. Food borne diseases are the result of unintentional abuse of foods in the kitchens. People in general, do not know about the foods - where to keep, store, how touse and what is food perishability. The Government and NGO's and other organizations are continuously working to devise the cost effective ways through leaflets, T.V. newspapers, radio, posters for the awareness of people regarding safe food handling. Wehave ten generic food safety messages for the consumers regarding food safety and safe food handling.
