The influence of used compounds on health status of celery.

Field studies were conducted in Poland, in 2007 and 2008, to determine the effect of used preparations on the health status of leaves and roots of celery cultivars Jablkowy and Mentor. During the experiments, Biochikol 020 PC (20 g/litre chitosan), Biosept 33 SL (33% grapefruit extract) and standard fungicide Gwarant 500 SC (500 g/litre chlorothalonil) were used. The results showed that in the first and second years, Gwarant 500 SC and Biochikol 020 PC, used in celery protection, had the most significant influence on the salubrity of celery leaves and roots. The efficacy of Biosept 33 SL in protecting celery leaves against Septoria spot was significant at the end of the vegetation period in the first year and during the whole vegetation period in the second year. Celery protection with Gwarant 500 SC and Biochikol 020 PC had a significant influence on the increase of root yield of both tested cultivars.
