Effect of selected preparations used in vegetation period on occurrence of potato tubers rot during the storage

The aim of two year studies (2009-2010) was to evaluate the effect of selected preparations contain: chitosan (Biochikol 020 PC), extract of grapefruit (Grevit 200 SL), orange oil (Prev-AM 060 SL) applied during the vegetation period on tubers' infection with Fusarium spp. (dry rot) and Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum (soft rot) during the storage. As a standard the fungicide contain dimethomorph + mancozeb (Acrobat MZ 69 WG) was used. After the harvest 100 potato tubers were randomly sampled from each plot for the storage. The observations on tubers' infection with Fusarium spp. and P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum were done directly after harvesting and successively every three months during the storage period. On the basis of obtained results it was stated that the tested preparations applied during potato vegetation reduced the percentage of tubers infected with Fusarium spp. and P. carotovorum subsp. carotovorum as compared to the control (untreated potato plots).
