As one of Scotland's oldest and most respected rowing dubs. Aberdeen Boat Club (ABC), based on the south bank of the River Dee and established in 1865. has survived two world wars, trained rowers, from novices to world champions, and has played a vital part in the city's sports offering. Today, the club has many members from across all spectrums of the city's population, from professional oil and gas industry workers to health and social care staff to university students. The club caters for a variety of levels of rowing ability, from complete novices and social rowers to national and international competitive athletes. Members range from their teens to their seventies and ABC is now one of the foremost rowing clubs in Scotland.
