Global ethylene operating rates to fall to 86% by 2010 from 93%

Hong Kong-Global ethylene operating rates may fall to 86-87% in 2010,compared with 93% during 2004,CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co Ltd senior executive Simon Lam CK said at the China Chemical Week Conference in Shanghai.He attributed the expected drop in operating rates to an influx of new plants coming on stream,many of which in the Middle East,due to the region's large reserves of oil and gas feedstocks.
