Vale hits back at Aquila over Eagle Downs budget impasse

Brazilian mining company Vale has rebutted claims from Aquila Resources that it was at fault for failing to agree a 2010-11 budget for capital works on their 50:50 Eagle Downs project in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Matters came to a head on Friday, June 11 when Vale’s participant company in the hard coking coal project, Bowen Central Coal issued a notice of dispute to Aquila subsidiary, Aquila Coal over budget approval conditions for the Eagle Downs project.
