London—Spanish PET producer La Seda De Barcelona said Wednesday it increased its earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation by 123% to Eur30.3 million ($38.8 million) in the first six months of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009. La Seda did not provide net figures in a financial statement. La Seda was not immediately available to comment. The company made a Eur485 million loss for the whole of 2009. The company, in the statement, said the H1 increase showed "a change in trend" confirming "the good evolution of the group's business" by reaching a consolidated turnover for the period of Eur473 million. Compared to the same period last year, La Seda's polyethylene terephthalate resin sales rose by more than 30% in June up to 45,000 mt--the highest figure in 16 months.
