All set for the SDG negotiations

September saw the start of the latest year-long session of the United Nations system. With this, the world entered a pivotal year that will shape the development and sustainability agenda for the next decade and a half. Some good news is that it has been agreed that the proposals of the UN General Assembly's Open Working Group for Sustainable Development Goals, released in July, will form the starting point for negotiations over the coming year as to what the priorities to 2030 will be. It is good news as the 17 goals proposed include one - Goal 6 - that is a standalone water goal. That, however, is only how things stand at the moment.
