In these days of economic uncertainty, everyone could use something to smile about. Thanks to the creative endeavors of designer Carla Forte and Mario Buccellati II, scion of the famous Italian jewelry house, jewelry lovers have that much more to smile about with Prediletto (Italian for "favorite"). "This is a collection that dares you not to smile," says Buccellati, who left the family business after three decades, to do something fresh and different. Upon meeting Mexican-born Forte, who had renderings of a concept based upon miniature objects, most inspired from real life events or travels, Buccellati says he truly found something new and different in fine jewelry. While he encountered some "way out" concepts, none had Forte's core idea: turning everyday, inanimate objects into jewelry in an almost photo-realistic way.
