ExxonMobil readies the bit

EXXONMOBIL is preparing to spin the bit at the Tanager prospect on its Kaieteur block off Guyana, with the drilling rig now on location. Minority block partner Westmount Energy said this week that the drillship Stena Carron has arrived at the Tanager-1 wellsite. The well, which lies in a water depth of 2900 metres, is expected to take about 90 days to drill to a total depth of 8000 metres. It will target the Upper Cretaceous-aged Maastrichtian layers, with secondary targets in the Campanian, Santonian, Coniacian and Turonian.
