German national operator DB has 295 'Talent 2'Class 442 EMUs on order from Bombardier under a framework contract agreed in 2007, which covered up to 321 trains. The first deliveries of 'Talent 2' EMUs to DB were heavily delayed by safety case approval problems, meaning trains due to enter service in 2009 were delayed until the end of 2012! The approval problems have now been largely overcome (although many trains have only limited approval for certain lines, not the entire German electrified network), and in August DB Regio was able to start introducing two'Talent 2' fleets early.
