FEARS CALMED OVER NRM 'CLOSURE'

The National Railway Museum will not be closing. That's the message from Culture Secretary Ed Vaizey following fears that Government cutbacks would result in the closure of one of the three museums in the Science Museum Group. The concern arose in early June when Science Museum Group director Ian Blatchford warned that the future of either the NRM, the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester or the National Media Museum in Bradford might be under threat because the Department for Culture, Media & Sport was aiming to cut budgets by 10%.
