Lewis-McChord Air Force Base, Wash., is in the process of building. The Special Operations Forces (SOF) Aviation Battalion Education Center, a new 35,000-ft2 building that has applied for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver certification, needed to meet new U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) air barrier standard requirements. The facility was the first project the general contractor had constructed under the governments air barrier requirements, which so far had not been met at this level at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
