The National Roads Authority is responsible for Ireland's national roads, which are the 5400 km of motorways, dual and single carriageway roads that carry most of Ireland's strategic traffic. The roads network has been greatly modernised in recent years, with the building of the motorway network, the upgrading of key sections such as the M50, and the completion of other critical projects such as the Dublin Port Tunnel. Improvement work will continue in the coming years, with a number of important schemes being tendered for constructionat present, nowever, tne management ana operation ot tneexisting network is of increasing importance, and will be thefocus of much of our attention in the coming years.
