Lanxess on growth path

The chemicals group Lanxess once again posted a year-on-year increase in earnings in the first quarter, which is traditionally the strongest three-month period in the year. EBITDA pre exceptionals grew by 6.8% during Jan-March 2007, to 219 million euros compared with 205 million euros in the first quarter of 2006. The EBITDA margin pre-exceptionals rose to 12.8% from 11.2% in the first quarter of 2006. The group improved its operating result (EBIT pre-exceptionals) by 10.5% to 158 million euros and the net income improved by 11% to 91 mil-lion euros compared with 82 million eu-ros in previous corresponding period.
