The board of the W.M. KECK OBSERVATORY announced HILTON A. LEWIS (above) has been appointed director of the Keck Observatory. He had been serving as interim director since May. Lewis joined Keck in 1986 starting off in software design and development. Before becoming interim director, he had been deputy director of the observatory, which operates the two Keck telescopes on Mauna Kea, Hawaii, since 2002.
