Vital Statistics: An Introduction to Health Science Statistics

The word that kept coming to mind when making notes on this book was "beautiful". I felt that the simplicity of some of the explanations and ways in which topics were illustrated was beautiful. While studying for my master's degree in sport and exercise science I was filled with dread on days when I had to attend lectures on the statistics module. The information level seemed to jump straight to complicated explanations of t-tests, ANOVA and other tests and methods. I recall feeling that the lecturer actually wanted to make statistics inaccessible. So I was very pleased when I started to read this book and immediately terms such as "inferential statistics" were summarised in a couple of sentences using everyday language.
