Ferries Ancona and Maersk Delft, along with the cruise ships Mona Lisa and the massive newbuild Freedom of the Seas, graphically illustrate the changes in style, size and capacity seen in their respective sectors. Royal Caribbean's newly completed 1 58,000gt Freedom of the Seas relieves Cunard's 148, 258gt Queen Mary 2 of the distinction of being the world's largest passenger vessel and her 1,396 crew complement alone is almost twice the 713 passenger total carried by Mona Lisa when introduced four decades ago as Swedish America Line's Kungsholm.
