To board Rotterdam for a tour of the classic ship, visitors arrive at a glassed-in boarding platform built on the ship's port side, which has vintage photos of the ship and nostalgic music, as well as stair and elevator access to the gangway. Guests enter at the Main Deck reception, which appears much as it always did, with its warm wood tones and an antique map of Rotterdam in its centre. Hotel guests and visitors enjoy free access to some parts of the ship, including the Coffee Lounge/ Captain's Bar that is adjacent to the reception. This space was carved out of former cabins and fitted with original artwork and furnishings from other parts of the ship.
