POSITIVE FUTURE FOR PADDLE STEAMER PRESERVATION

Founded in 1959, when paddle steamers were being withdrawn from many well-established areas of British operation, the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society (PSPS) has played a major role in keeping Waverley and Kingswear Castle operational, and also backs ongoing efforts to bring other laid-up veterans back on stream. But their achievements come against a background of declining membership, with numbers dropping between two and three per cent each year through the past decade.
