There has been considerable interest in areas of finance and insurance in India in the last decade with the introduction of new liberalized policy. With the advent of internet transactions, private banks and insurance companies have emerged as important players in shaping up the economy. People, usually habituated with riskless investments in Public banks are now making investments which carry some amount of risk. In this context, the First Indian Edition (2013) of the book Probability: The Science of Uncertainty by Michael A. Bean published by the American Mathematical Society in 2001 is a very useful and timely addition to the literature.
