Investigators are probing the causes of a fire that broke out in February on an aircraft carrier currently being scrapped at a shipbreaking facility in Hartlepool, north-east England.rnAfter being called to the scene at 09:02, 50 firefighters and 10 fire engines grappled with the blaze on the 32,700gt Clemenceau on 5 February after fire broke out on some cabling on the vessel. Four engines were initially called, but the size of the carrier led to further resources being dispatched to the site. "After putting out the fire we spent several hours dampening down the ship to prevent the flames spreading," Cleveland FirernService's spokesman Andy Rees told SASI. No injuries were reported. It was too early to say what caused the fire, but a full investigation was under way, said Neil Etherington, development chief of recycling specialists Able UK.
