The recent grounding of a products tanker off the coast of Mumbai, India has exposed holes in the country's coastal security, just two-and-a-half years after the deadly water-borne terror attack on the city. Dubai-owned, Panamanian-flagged Pavit (999gt) ran aground on Juhu beach on 31 July. Investigations revealed that the vessel was abandoned off Oman on 30 June after suffering engine failure and ingress of water. All 13 Indian crew were airlifted to an Indian Navy vessel by a (UK) Royal Navy helicopter from HMS St Albans.
