Prisk and Vaizey take charge

September's cabinet reshuffle saw the dynamic Grant Shapps replaced by former chartered surveyor Mark Prisk as housing minister. There is no suggestion of a change in policy but it could mean housing will get a lower priority on the political agenda - despite the government's summer push to show it is housebuilder friendly. Its announcements promise the affordable housing requirement will be lifted where house builders can prove it makes their schemes unviable, and the government is pledging £10 billion for the sector.
