S&C reprieve 25th anniversary special

A Class 37-hauled special train will run on April 11 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Settle and Carlisle line being saved from closure. BR wanted to close the line north of Settle Junction to Carlisle to save costs, citing the poor condition of Ribblehead viaduct as the main reason. The line has been progressively run down both in infrastructure and its timetable.
