Triple-header to mark S&C reprieve anniversary

The 25th anniversary of the Settle & Carlisle line's reprieve from closure is to be marked on April 11 by the operation of three DRS Class 37s hauling nine carriages over the scenic line. The commemorative special is being promoted by the Settle-Carlisle Railway Development Company and the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line, and tickets for the special go on sale on January 13. The train will leave Leeds at about 10.00 calling at Shipley, Skipton, Settle and Appleby before a short break at Carlisle, and a return to Leeds as per the outward leg.
