The new hourly direct service from Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley to Manchester Victoria, offering significant journey time savings, will be delayed by at least six months because Northern Rail has been unable to find rolling stock to operate the trains. Work to reinstate the 300 m Todmorden Curve for the new service is already underway (RB1446 p2), together with construction of a new station building at Burnley Manchester Road.
