VDP reports positive business development of the German paper industry in 2017

Germany's paper industry generated growth in sales and volumes last year. The industry's recovered paper utilisation rate stood at 74%, which "makes the German paper sector a prime example of sustainable closed loop recycling,"says Verband Deutscher Papierfabriken (VDP), the association of German paper producers. However, there is still reason to be concerned - e.g., about raw materials. The VDP underlines that global growth in demand for pulp has driven prices considerably upwards, and this is putting pressure on paper mills. Moreover, transport costs have risen significantly.
