VDP report says packaging market helped German paper industry to grow in 2014

Germany's paper industry started 2015 on an average note. VDP, the umbrella association of German paper mills, expects that the structural degradation in the graphic paper industry will continue. In contrast, the packaging paper, specialty paper and sanitary paper segments remain positive and show steady growth. On the cost front, the association expects energy and recovered paper prices to remain largely stable. Paper mills must expect to pay more for pulp, however. In the case of wood, supply may show gaps in the long-term view.
