Paper production in Germany declined again in 2011,VDP reports

The upward economic trend in the paper industry did not continue throughout the year 2011. According to the annual report of the German Pulp and Paper Association (vdp), the dynamism seen in the catch-up phase after the crisis considerably lost speed when things returned to normal. Annual output of paper and board dropped by 1.6% to 22.7 million t in Germany last year, thereby again falling below the level of the pre-crisis year 2008. Nevertheless, the German paper industry remained no. 4 globally after China, the USA and Japan, and even no. 1 in Europe.
