Transport minister sadiq khan was in canary Wharf last Tuesday to review progress on the £15.9bn Crossrail scheme. The site visit was expected to reaffirm what Londoners had already been told: that, after more than 20 years of talk, the capital's east-west rail link is finally happening.The diggers have moved into the Docklands estate, and more than 220 piles have already been driven into the ground since 15 May. Last month, London mayor Boris Johnson appeared to seal the deal by publishing plans to raise £4.1bn of funding to follow the £5.6bn promised last year by the government.
