The number of people unemployed in the UK has risen rapidly during the recession and reached 2.22m earlier this year, according to information published by the Office for National Statistics.rnWhen we read of 500 job cuts here and another 2000 there it's difficult to relate the numbers to the individual pain and anxiety which each of these job losses represents.rnBeing one of hundreds or even thousands made redundant doesn't lessen the sense of loss that many individuals feel. Shock is followed by denial and often anger and guilt as the person made redundant wonders perhaps if they could have prevented the job loss if only they had done something differently.
