A visible light transmitting BODIPY derivative with an emission peak at604nm and quantum yield of 64% is incorporated into a PMMA matrix,resulting in an aesthetically pleasing luminescent solar concentrator (LSC),suitable for “power window” applications. A Monte Carlo modeling platformis shown to be useful firstly to tune device performance, but also to givedirection to future synthetic efforts. From this an 4mm thick LSC of(100×100 mm) is shown to have optical efficiency of ≈3.3%.
