A multidisciplinary approach is needed to take account of all the factors at stake in the psychological vulnerability of pregnant women and in adapting follow-up to discharge accordingly. The scientific and human challenge is to build bridges between disciplines and to reorganize the professional environment. By listening to the patient from the outset it is possible to identify the psychological disorder. Coordination seems necessary in cases of marked vulnerability, and its scope is becoming more clearly defined as a variety of experience is acquired. As with all communication tools, the evolution of this new role of coordination calls for careful monitoring to avoid overlap. The security coordination offers to the professionals involved is its most compelling endorsement. The early experiences reported here are evidence of the positive training-for-action effect of coordination, from the start of pregnancy till the mother’s return home. Parents report feeling secured and reassured in a comprehensive care network.
