FLT falls from ramp

A fork lift truck driver sustained injuries to his back when a mobile ramp moved as he unloaded a container.Chesterfield magistrates court was told that Andrew Baxter and his FLT fell to the ground when the ramp became separated from a lorry being unloaded at Vesuvius UK Ltd's Chesterfield site in February 2010.The court heard there was no evidence of a risk assessment having been carried out for any of the loading/unloading activities taking place on the site, instead an informal system of using the forks of an FLT to push the ramp back into position when it moved had been adopted by FLT drivers.
