This book introduces new research and a conceptual approach to prevention of professional exhaustion and burnout. It describes the causes of, and methods to prevent, exhaustion and burnout in the workplace, and provides an overview of a range of issues from human resource practices to the prevention of fatigue and preservation of an employee's vitality and zest. Approaching companies as social, living systems, burnout prevention is discussed as a management tool and as a strategic management decision. Case studies are used to show the daily demands and challenges at the workplace and work-life integration.
