Effects of food on metabolic regulation and disorders

Nestle is the world's largest food company and supplies ～1% of all dietary choices. Today's food marketplace is arguably the most complex, dynamic, highly competitive and exciting of human endeavours. The food supply is changing. Advances in commodity genetics combined with industrial processing have extended the yield, caloric content, nutritional quality and safety of agricultural materials used as food ingredients. As the largest food producer globally, Nestle is committed to ensuring the highest nutritional quality of its ingredients and products. This paper provides an overview of the work Nestle is doing in the field, illustrated by examples of our published work, and highlights the areas that are actively under investigation at the Nestle Research Center in Lausanne, Switzerland.
