The present invention relates to a food composition for alleviating metabolic disorders and a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating metabolic disorders, which contain orobol as an active ingredient. The orobol, which is contained in the food composition for alleviating metabolic disorders and the pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating metabolic disorders of the present invention, exhibits a lipid accumulation inhibitory effect, and exhibits a more excellent effect of inhibiting the differentiation of preadipocytes, compared with genistin and daidzin, which are soy isoflavone glycosides, aglycone genistein and daidzein, 6,7,4′-trihydroxyisoflavone (6-ODI), 7,3′,4′-trihydroxyisoflavone (3′-ODI), 7,8,4′-trihydroxyisoflavone (8-ODI), and equol, which are metabolites of daidzein, and coumestrol, which is soy isoflavone.
