As the inaugural scholarly resource exploring Whiteness in Canada, this volume pushes the antiracist discursive to problematize "complex and shifting ethnic, cultural, and racial identities" (p. 4) and how Whiteness is taken up within Canadian liberal-democratic cultural and institutional politics. Carr and Lund, both White Canadian antiracist scholars, have created a space for established and emerging scholars, approaching Whiteness from varied epistemic terrains to articulate its tensions and its societal and institutional implications. In his forward, George Dei emphasizes the value of this collection in its critical exploration of Whiteness to fill "a gap in the Canadian literature on the ways Whiteness masquerades in our institutions and within Canadian mythologies" (p. x).
