摘要

I 'm no futurologist, but I do like to test different hypotheses about how things might pan out. In democratic politics, change is the constant. So what happens if the Conservatives win the next election? What would this mean for local government's place in the scheme of things? And would a Conservative Government need local government? This was the question that political activist Christina Dykes and I asked leading figures from the Conservative Party. The results - published in the latest edition of the SOLACE Foundation Imprint - are interesting, intriguing, and raise issues of principle, politics and practice. The official, frontbench view is provided by Bob Neill, the shadow minister for local government.
