This report describes the features of a newly developed web browser and Java running environment that provides internet services for W-CDMA mobile phones. In the web browser section, it is first explained that a browser is a component by which applications are Linked to and process incoming content. Next, plug-in features and their implementation methods, which can Add new processing features to the terminal to cope with new content, are discussed. In the Java section, it is explained that compatibility between internet function and telephone function, an Issue specific to cellular phones, and security provision are both essential, and that such features as Suspension, resumption, forced termination, and memory protection are realized by employing a two-task Structure comprising VM and JAM. Methods for speeding up graphics depicting processes and optimization Of Java execution are also discussed.
