This is a textbook about product development and manufacture from the materials engineering perspective. The author, Michael Pfeifer, is President, Industrial Metallurgists, LLC in USA. This has resulted in a distinctive text that has a practical subject treatment but with a strong academic basis. The book is therefore equally useful for academic teaching, at undergraduate level, although worked examples and problems are not included, and for design practice, in industry and consultancy, with numerous representative examples included to exemplify principles and their application.
