DHS plays catch up on maritime security

Ever since the Dubai Ports debacle, the Congressional hopper has been filling up with bills relating to maritime security. A significant focus of much of this legislation has been on making the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) do a number of things that it was supposed to do — but somehow hasn't gotten around to. The message seems to have penetrated. In recent weeks DHS has unveiled several initiatives seen by many as long overdue.
